What the business does: Sharon Lewis said Heart of Wood uses reject Douglas fir lumber that is manufactured at Columbia Vista (a Vancouver lumber mill Sharon and Bob Lewis own) as well as salvaged hardwood species, to build indoor furniture and outdoor fixtures such as planter boxes. This below-grade lumber in the past it would be chipped for the fiber or turned into a lesser product. By finding a better use for the wood, Heart of Wood is extending its useful life and creating something beautiful. The company make tables of all sizes, benches, dressers, bookshelves, planter boxes, sheds. It also works to produce custom projects for its customers.
