CLEVELAND (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations says the Cleveland Browns have signed rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden to a four-year contract, worth $8.1 million.
Weeden was the No. 22 overall pick this year out of Oklahoma State and will join the rest of the Browns’ rookies on Wednesday, when camp opens. One of those other newcomers is running back Trent Richardson, also a first-round pick this year, who agreed to a four-year, $20.5 million contract on Monday.
On Tuesday, Weeden and the Browns completed their deal, said the person who spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because Cleveland hasn’t announced the signing.
The Browns are looking for a jolt on offense this season, after scoring just 218 points en route to a 4-12 finish last year.
