LONDON (AP) — Spain has lost its challenge for its team to replace Russia’s in the K-2 1,000-meter event at the Olympics.
The highest court of international sports said it had no authority to hear the Spanish Canoeing Federation’s appeal of a decision by the International Canoeing Federation. The Court of Arbitration for Sport said the dispute predates the opening of the special Olympic court in London on July 17.
Russia qualified for the 10-nation lineup by its performance at the 2011 world championships.
The K-2 1,000-meter event starts Aug. 6 at Eton Dorney, west of London.
