Chance to discuss B.G. school boundary shifts

Parents of students at Tukes Valley primary and middle schools in the Battle Ground school district are invited to a forum on boundary changes.

The school board recently voted to change several boundaries in the district. One of the changes — moving about 170 students to Captain Strong Primary and Chief Umtuch Middle School from the Tukes Valley schools — has upset parents, who felt they weren’t properly notified about the change.

The board discussed and voted on the changes in an open meeting, but the northern boundary change in Tukes Valley was proposed during the meeting and was not included in information sent out before the meeting.

Parents can discuss the changes with district officials at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Chief Umtuch Middle School, 700 N.W. Ninth Street in Battle Ground.
