BERN, Switzerland (AP) — Former Olympic bronze medalist Ambrosi Hoffman has retired from World Cup skiing after 16 seasons.
The 34-year-old Swiss says he’s stopping “because of my age but also my results.”
Hoffman’s career highlight came at the 2006 Turin Games, where he finished third in super-G behind Alpine greats Kjetil Andre Aamodt of Norway and Hermann Maier of Austria.
Hoffman has finished outside the top 15 in all his races this season. His 231-race World Cup career started and finished at Kvitfjell, Norway, where he placed 31st in a super-G last Sunday.
Hoffman had a career-best finish of second in a downhill at Altenmarkt, Austria, in 2002.
