Wood pitches into third inning for Cubs in win

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Travis Wood boosted his chances of earning a spot in the Chicago Cubs’ rotation, allowing one run while pitching into the third inning of a 5-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

Woods was lifted with one out in the third and the bases loaded but Randy entered and got Paul Konerko to bounce into an inning-ending double play.
