JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Miami Marlins shortstop Jose Reyes finally got to see what it’s like to face the New York Mets.

Reyes played against his former team for the first time this spring on Thursday, grounding out to lead off the first inning against New York’s R.A. Dickey.

The four-time All-Star and three-time stolen base champion did not travel to the Mets’ spring training home in Port St. Lucie, Fla., for either of Miami’s two games there in the past week, and was not with the Marlins’ split squad that played host to his former club on March 7.

Reyes signed a $106 million, six-year deal with the Marlins in the offseason after he said the Mets failed to present him with a competitive offer.
