BERN, Switzerland (AP) — Swiss skier Beat Feuz has undergone left knee surgery, five days after being edged out for the overall Alpine World Cup title by Marcel Hirscher of Austria.

The Swiss ski federation says the 25-year-old Feuz’s procedure on Thursday to fix a loose bone in his knee was successful.

Swiss Ski says Feuz aims to complete his rehabilitation before the start of offseason training.

Feuz won four World Cup races last season, and led the standings going into the final races at Schladming, Austria.

He fell in the super-G as Hirscher posted a surprising third-place finish to seize the initiative. Hirscher then won the giant slalom on Saturday to clinch his first overall title.
