PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Highway officials say it’s looking wintery in Oregon’s snow zones, so drivers with studded tires can keep using them during the first days of April.
The annual deadline for removing studded tires had been the end of the day Saturday.
That’s been extended through Monday, April 9. Studded tires have to be off as of 12:01 a.m. April 10.
The department says drivers who don’t go into snowy conditions shouldn’t wait for the deadlines, and people who do drive in the snow should consider chains or other kinds of traction tires
Highway officials say studded tires chew up streets and roads, causing $40 million a year in damage.
