JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — Joint Base Lewis-McChord is holding a memorial service Wednesday afternoon for a soldier killed in Afghanistan.

The Army says 21-year-old Spc. Philip C. S. Schiller of The Colony, Texas, died April 11 of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

He was a member of the 3rd Stryker Brigade that deployed in December.
