STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut center Kiah Stokes has undergone surgery to repair a torn tendon in her right foot.
The school said the injury “become problematic” during the NCAA tournament, but did not say how the 6-foot-3 freshman was injured.
The school says the surgery was performed Friday at the UConn Health Center in Farmington.
Stokes averaged 4.5 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Huskies, who lost to Notre Dame in the national semifinals. She played 16 minutes in that game, scoring four points with four rebounds and two blocked shots.
Stokes is expected to return to normal activity before the start of the 2012-13 season. Stokes, of Marion, Iowa, helped her Linn-Mar High School to a 26-0 record and the state title. Her father is Greg Stokes, who played basketball at Iowa.
