Meadow Glade — A visiting family from Mississippi got an unexpected gift when Meadow Glade Adventist Academy Elementary School presented them with a check for $1,300. Last year, 14-year-old Ashley Rogers and her family were staying with Clark County relatives when Ashley became ill and was diagnosed with leukemia. As her health improved, she worked out at a local gym, where she met physical education teacher Josh MacLachlan. “After hearing her story, I really wanted the kids to meet her to help them understand how this disease affects people,” said MacLachlan. After Ashley spoke at a student assembly, students and families got busy raising money to help out.
