KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City defender Cyprian Hedrick, the team’s second-round pick in the MLS draft, will miss about four months after breaking his left leg.
Hedrick will have surgery Friday to repair a fractured fibula.
The Big South defensive player of the year at Coastal Carolina, Hedrick was the 30th overall pick in the draft. He played in six preseason games but has appeared mostly in MLS reserve league and exhibition matches this season.
Sporting Kansas City returns to the field Tuesday against the Colorado Rapids in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.
