OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — A 73-year-old Lake Oswego man was convicted Thursday of interfering with a peace officer and resisting arrest, but the Clackamas County jury found Gary Buford not guilty of assaulting a public safety officer.

Buford was accused of biting a Lake Oswego police officer who went to his home in April of 2011 with a code enforcement officer who suspected Buford of illegally cutting trees near his house.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/wKTOxO) police testified Buford was combative. His lawyer said Buford was no threat and police overreacted.
