Loowit Brewing Company, which has been setting up shop at 507 Columbia St. since February, will hold its grand opening tonight.

The business, owned by Vancouver natives Devon Bray and Thomas Poffenroth, is one of a handful of new downtown breweries that have sprouted up in the area over the past year. The company plans to sell growler fills and kegs, Bray said.

“We do want to bottle beer, too,” he said. “But that’s a bit down the road.”

At launch, the taproom will have a golden ale and an India pale ale available. The company is also looking at creating a beer made with coffee roasted by Torque Coffee Roasters, which is next door at 501 Columbia St.

“We might actually experiment with that here in the next week,” Bray said.

Loowit’s taproom will be open from 4-10 p.m. on Fridays and will probably expand to Saturday service in the near future, he said.
