MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Court documents show Bernard Berrian has reached a settlement with a California couple who found his Blackberry and allegedly threatened to sell its contents unless the former Vikings wide receiver paid them $30,000.
The settlement between Berrian, Ron Jones and Clarice Lankford was reached Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Minnesota. The documents say the terms of the deal are confidential.
According to a lawsuit filed last year, Berrian left his Blackberry at an ATM in Las Vegas in October 2010. Months later, Jones and Lankford allegedly demanded $30,000, saying if Berrian didn’t pay, they’d sell the device to the highest bidder. Berrian eventually got the device back.
The Vikings waived Berrian in October 2011, halfway into his fourth year with the team.
