Prep roundup: Humphreys, Standard lead golf

Brian Humphreys of Camas shot a 71 to lead by one stroke after Monday’s play at the Class 4A district golf tournament at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield.

Union’s Ian Spicer was one stroke back at 72, with Braeden Campbell of Camas third with 76.

The top 19 golfers made the cut for today’s final round, which tees off at 9 a.m.

The top four individuals qualify for the state tournament in May, and the next six golfers qualify for the bi-district tournament.

In the 3A tournament, also at Tri-Mountain, Fort Vancouver’s Trent Standard shot a 72 to lead by three strokes.

Marshall Ward of Prairie was second with a 75, followed by teammate Brian Siedelman’s 76. Taylor Smith of Mountain View was in fourth at 77.

The top 19 players who made the cut begin today’s final round at 9:48 a.m.

The top six individuals qualify for the Class 3A state tournament in May, and the next eight qualify for the bi-district tournament.

The 2013 state tournaments will be held in Clark County.

Boys tennis

Mountain View clinched the 3A Greater St. Helens title by completing a perfect league season on Monday.

The Thunder defeated Fort Vancouver 6-0 for a 7-0 league record. They are 9-2 overall.
