TROUT LAKE — The 20,500-acre Cascade Creek Fire continues to burn on the flanks of Mount Adams, but there was no significant growth in acreage on Monday.

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest reports single trees and other unburned materials burning within the western portion of the fire perimeter.

The fire is running out of fuels as it approaches the tree line to the north. Containment lines are halting growth to the west.

There are 229 personnel assigned to the fire, which has cost an estimate $15 million since it began a month ago.

Mount Adams Wilderness remains closed, plus other national forest land east of roads Nos. 23 and 2329.

South Point fire — Seventy personnel have been assigned to the South Point Fire near Packwood. The fire is about 250 acres.

Crews are placing water hose on former road No. 2115 as a containment line between the fire and Packwood.
