Taholah 108, King’s Way 42

King’s Way Christian opened its new on-campus athletic field Saturday with a lot of scoring.

Unfortunately for the Knights, it was the Taholah football team doing most of the scoring in a 108-42 Class 1B 8-man game.

Jay Becker had part in all of the King’s Way scoring. He rushed for 300 yards on 32 carries and three touchdown, and also threw for three TDs.

Austin Porter caught two of the TD passes and the third went to Dylan Roberts.

Due to a rule change prior to the season, 8-man Class 1B games no longer end on 45-point margins in the second half.

Instead, all classifications use a modified running clock in the second half after a 40-point spread has been reached.

The game was close in the first quarter after Porter’s second TD reception pulled the Knights with 24-20.

But the Chitwins added a late touchdown in the first quarter and 48 more in the second quarter to take an 80-20 lead at halftime.

Taholah broke the 100-point barrier with a touchdown late in the third quarter. King’s Way scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including one with just seconds to play.

However, the Chitwins returned a kickoff 86 yards for their final touchdown on the game’s final play.
