The Mary Kay Foundation awarded YWCA Clark County’s SafeChoice Domestic Violence Shelter a $20,000 grant to sponsor a bedroom for one year. Throughout the year, the room will help at least six adults and six to 12 children who are escaping domestic violence. During their stay, the family will have access to parenting, peer and legal support, according to a bulletin from the YWCA.

During domestic violence awareness month in October, the Mary Kay Foundation gives $20,000 grants to shelters around the country, totaling $3 million. Since 2000, the cosmetics and skin care products retailer has awarded nearly $31 million to domestic violence shelters and programs, the bulletin said.
