Skelton inactive for Cards with ankle injury

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Arizona quarterback John Skelton is inactive for Sunday’s game at New England with an ankle injury.

Skelton, who started the Cardinals’ opener last Sunday against Seattle, had been expected to miss the game against the Patriots after spraining his right ankle in the fourth quarter of the 20-16 win over the Seahawks. Kevin Kolb replaced him and passed for the decisive touchdown with 4:59 left.

Other inactive players for Arizona are wide receiver LaRon Byrd, tight end Jim Dray, guard Senio Kelemete, tackle Pat McQuistan, running back William Powell and linebacker Jamaal Westerman.

New England’s inactive players are defensive end Jake Bequette, defensive back Alfonzo Dennard, tight end Daniel Fells, defensive lineman Marcus Forston, defensive end Justin Francis, wide receiver Greg Salas and running back Shane Vereen.
