U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell highlighted successful science, technology, engineering and mathematics school models in Washington state — including Vancouver iTech Preparatory School — and asked how these models can be scaled up and replicated in other areas.

“In Washington state … I look at Vancouver iTech Preparatory School which has gotten a lot of help from the high-tech industry there,” Cantwell said.

Vancouver iTech has a middle school program at the Jim Parsley Community Center, 4100 Plomondon St. and a high school program at WSU Vancouver, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave.

Cantwell also named STEM school models in Seattle, Spokane and Tri-Cities as successes.
