Non-league football: Ridgefield 56, Hudson’s Bay 6

Gunnar Long and Clayton Farr helped lead the Spudders past against Hudson Bay, 48 points coming in the first 24 minutes.

Long ran for two touchdowns, Farr took three into the end zone, rushing for 60 yards rushing and adding 47 yards receiving.

Ridgefield started the game off quick, rushing 60 yards on five carries for their first score. Within minutes, John White intercepted a pass from Hudson Bay quarterback TJ Brumfield and ran it 15 yards for another score.

Bay’s next possession, the overpowering Spudder defense forced another turnover, as Noah Couch intercepted another Brumfield pass. Five plays later, Long found the end zone for the first time of the day and rushed in the two-point conversion to take a 21-0 lead with five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The Ridgefield offense was just getting started however, as Long pounded his way into the end zone, set up by an incredible catch earlier in the drive from Farr.

On Ridgefield’s next possession after a four and out from the Bay offense, the team drove 51 yards in under two minutes to set up Farr’s second TD, coming on a 1-run, ending the first quarter with a 35-0 lead.

The Ridgefield offense would make their way into the end zone three more times throughout the game, one coming on Farr’s final touch of the game, one from Matt Cushwa on a 15 yard run and one from sophomore Nathan Eggleston.

Brumfield scored for the Eagles to start the second half after he threw for 34 yards on three passes and ran in a one yard score.
