CINCINNATI (AP) — Reds manager Dusty Baker is staying in a Chicago hospital for another day to treat an irregular heartbeat.

The 63-year-old manager was hospitalized Wednesday because of the heart problem that he’s had for some time. He’s missed the last three games as Cincinnati closed in on its second NL Central title in three years.

The Reds could clinch the title with a win Saturday over Los Angeles or a Cardinals loss in Chicago.

Bench coach Chris Speier said Saturday that doctors decided to keep Baker one more day as a precaution. He could be released as early as Sunday. Speier is running the team until Baker gets back.
