Local officials have lifted a countywide burn ban after a change in the weather pattern improved air quality.
The ban was lifted at 10 a.m. Monday, according to the Southwest Clean Air Agency. It had been in effect since Nov. 22.
The removal means county residents can once again use wood stoves and fireplaces, which had been prohibited during the ban. But residents are asked to burn as cleanly as possible, according to the clean air agency.
The relief may be fleeting, as this week’s weather is expected to bring another cold, dry air mass to the region. The pattern could again lead to stagnant air and low air quality.
