ABERDEEN — The Aberdeen City Council is considering two candidates to fill a council seat that was won in last month’s election by a dead man.

One is Alan Richrod who was running for the council and had been appointed after incumbent John Erak died. But Richrod lost to Erak, whose name remained on the ballot.

KXRO and KBKW report that Will Simpson, son of Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson, also wants the job.

The council considered the candidates at Wednesday’s meeting but put off a decision until Dec. 30.

Erak died in June after filing for election and his name could not be removed from the ballot.
