FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have placed wide receiver Stephen Hill on season-ending injured reserve with an ailing left knee.
The speedy Hill, in his second season, had just 24 catches for 342 yards and a touchdown in what many expected could be a breakout year. Instead, Hill dealt with the balky knee all season and it affected him coming in and out of breaks on routes.
A second-round pick last year, Hill had one catch for 2 yards in his last four games. He sat out the Jets’ 37-27 win against Oakland last Sunday.
Hill says Friday that there are no plans for him to have surgery on the knee, adding he needs to strengthen the muscles around it.
