Providence holds off hot-shooting Yale, 76-74

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Bryce Cotton finished with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting as Providence held on for a 76-74 win over Yale Tuesday night at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Cotton was one of four players to score in double figures for the Friars (9-2). Tyler Harris poured in 19 points while LaDontae Henton added 13 points to go with six rebounds. Kadeem Batts finished with 10 points.

Yale sophomore Justin Sears led all scorers with 31 points on 13-of-16 shooting.

The game was tied at 35-35 at halftime after the Bulldogs (5-5) concluded the first half on an 18-3 surge. From about the five-minute mark of the opening stanza until the final horn, Yale missed just seven of the 30 shots from the field it attempted.
