Clark women defeat Blue Mountain for tourney title

Tournament MVP Brooke Bowen scored 22 points as the Clark College women’s basketball team rallied for a 77-72 win over Blue Mountain on Sunday to claim the Clark Crossover title.

Bowen, a Skyview High grad, also had eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Shantell Jackson scored 18 points, and Haley Grossman, a Battle Ground grad, had 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Clark (8-2) battled back from trailing much of the first half.

Blue Mountain (9-1), led by Fort Vancouver grad Mar’Shay Moore’s 22 points, led by eight at 23-15 with 9:44 to play in the first half.

Clark would eventually tie the game before going into halftime down 36-31.

Clark was down by as many as 16 points with six minutes to play, and the game wasn’t decided until the final minute.

Micaela Bitanga’s 3-pointer put Clark ahead 74-68 with 50 seconds to play, and Grossman made two free throws inside of 10 seconds remaining to seal Clark’s sixth consecutive victory.
