A 44-year-old Vancouver man was cited for driving while texting after he was involved in a Sunday afternoon accident.

The Washington State Patrol said Paul B. Carr was westbound about 12:53 p.m. on state Highway 500 in a 1994 Nissan Sentra when his car collided with the back of a 2014 Chevrolet Spark driven by Rebecca M. Boshears, 24, of Lake Oswego, Ore. The collision at Stapleton Road pushed the Spark into a jersey barrier, the patrol said.

Carr and Boshears were treated at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and then released. Two of Boshears’ passengers also were taken to hospitals.

The patrol said Jaimie J. Johnson, 33, of Yacolt was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center. She was not listed as a patient there Sunday night. Passenger Keren M. Gundersen, 55, of Kapaa, Hawaii, was treated and released from PeaceHealth.

In addition to the texting citation, Carr was cited for negligent driving and for having no insurance.
