Berry helps Ball State top Norfolk State 62-61

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Jesse Berry scored 21 points to help Ball State beat Norfolk State 62-61 on Wednesday night.

Berry was 6 of 11 from the field. Jauwan Scaife added 18 points for the Cardinals (6-6). Chris Bond had nine rebounds.

Ball State led 29-23 at halftime, but at 4:45 in the second half, Norfolk State was ahead by five points.

Each team had 12 turnovers, but Ball State made 15 points off Norfolk State turnovers. But the Spartans beat Ball State in rebounding 36-28.

Rob Johnson led the Spartans with 16 points and seven rebounds. Malcolm Hawkins scored 15 points, Pendarvis Williams had 14 and Kievyn Lila-St. Rose had 11. Jamel Fuentes had nine assists for Norfolk State (6-10).

The game was the first ever between Ball State and Norfolk State in men’s basketball.
