BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Lehigh guard C.J. McCollum will be sidelined eight to 10 weeks because of a broken left foot.

The Mountain Hawks announced the injury Sunday. McCollum, the nation’s leading scorer and an Associated Press’ preseason All-American, was injured Saturday in the first half of a loss at VCU. McCollum was on crutches by game’s end, his left foot wrapped. He scored just four points, all on free throws, 21.7 below his average.

McCollum was fifth nationally with 21.9 points per game last season and drew plenty of attention by scoring 30 points in Lehigh’s upset victory over Duke in the NCAA tournament. Even with opponents geared toward stopping him, McCollum has been nearly unstoppable during his senior season.

Lehigh is hopeful McCollum could return for the final game of the regular season or the Patriot League tournament.
