CHAUX-NEUVE, France (AP) — Tino Edelmann of Germany won his first Nordic combined event of the season Saturday and Jason Lamy Chappuis of France extended his overall lead despite finishing only sixth.
The 27-year-old Edelmann, whose previous best individual result of the season was 13th, finished just ahead of Austria’s Bernhard Gruber. Japan’s Akito Watabe was third.
Edelmann was third after the ski jump but did enough in the 10-kilometer cross-country race to clinch victory.
Chappuis, who was 14th in the jump and sixth in cross-country, increased his lead on Magnus Moan in the overall standings because the Norwegian placed 26th place after a poor jump.
Chappuis has 495 points to Moan’s 388 after seven of 19 events.
