Phillies invite 3 pitchers to spring training

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Phillies have invited right-handed pitchers Aaron Cook, Juan Cruz and Rodrigo Lopez to spring training as non-roster players.

Cook, 33, was 4-11 with a 5.65 ERA in 18 starts for Boston last year. He spent the previous 10 seasons pitching for Colorado, finishing as the franchise’s all-time leader in wins (72), innings (1,312 1/3) and starts (206). Cook is 76-79 with a 4.60 ERA in 256 career games, including 224 starts.

Cruz, 34, was 1-1 with three saves and a 2.78 ERA in 43 appearances for Pittsburgh last season. He’s 38-36 with a 4.05 ERA in 447 games over 12 seasons with seven teams.

Lopez, 37, pitched in four games for the Cubs in 2012. He’s 81-89 with a 4.82 ERA in 257 games over 11 seasons with six teams.
