An open house meeting next week will lay out plans for an improved interchange at Northeast Airport Way and Interstate 205 in Portland, just south of the Washington-Oregon border.
The project, set to begin construction this spring, will add a new ramp and lanes connecting Airport Way with the freeway in an effort to ease delays, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The road is now used by more than 10,000 people daily for commuting, deliveries and getting to and from Portland International Airport, according to ODOT.
The project began study as early as 2007. Next week’s open house will include information on the project’s background and design and the construction schedule, among other topics.
The gathering runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Residence Inn Portland Airport, 9301 N.E. Cascades Parkway in Portland.
