DUI driver sentenced after injuring self, kids in crash

Vancouver man rolled vehicle on Oregon highway

A Vancouver man has been sentenced in Washington County, Ore., Circuit Court to 10 days in jail for drunken driving and rolling his vehicle, injuring himself and his three children.

Matthew D. Evans, 26, was driving on Highway 6 west of Banks late on March 4 when his 2002 Ford Explorer left the roadway, struck a guardrail and rolled into a ditch.

His 2-year-old daughter was ejected from the vehicle and had to be transported to a hospital with injuries. Evans, his 5-year-old daughter and 6-month-old son sustained minor injuries.

Evans pleaded guilty April 23 to recklessly endangering another person, driv

ing under the influence and reckless driving.
