LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The top London Olympics official in rhythmic gymnastics has been expelled from the sport’s governing body after it found “irregularities” in judges’ examinations.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) says Olympics technical delegate Maria Szyszkowska of Poland is “stripped of her FIG membership, and excluded from any form of participation in all FIG events and activities.”

FIG also suspended six rhythmic Technical Committee members, including American Caroline Hunt, through December 2014. They can appeal the sanctions.

The case implicated 56 judges at coaching courses held in Romania, Russia and Spain in late 2012.

The irregularities include that “many judges had the same scores and same percentages.”

FIG says it revoked their qualifications. Repeat tests will be held to choose officials for the rhythmic World Championships starting Aug. 28 in Kiev, Ukraine.
