WASHINGTON (AP) — Robert Griffin III is good to go for training camp.
The Washington Redskins quarterback tweeted Monday: “Doctors cleared me to practice.”
Last season’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year had reconstructive surgery in January after hurting his right knee multiple times in a playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Griffin originally stated a goal of returning in time for the regular season, but the Redskins say his rehab has been ahead of schedule.
The Redskins open training camp Thursday in Richmond, Va.
Coach Mike Shanahan has said he’ll be cautious and make sure Griffin is “100 percent” before the quarterback plays in a game.
Griffin echoed the sentiment Monday, tweeting: “Coach is going to ease me in.”
