CHICAGO (AP) — Bears fullback Evan Rodriguez is apologizing and promising to make “positive changes” in his life after his latest brush with police.

Illinois State Police say Rodriguez was ticketed on Friday for driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage. It was the second encounter with police this year for Rodriguez, who was charged in March with disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer in Miami. Those charges were eventually dropped.

In a statement issued through the team on Sunday, Rodriguez apologized to the Bears organization, his teammates, coaches and Bears fans. He says “I will make positive changes in my life so that this doesn’t happen again.”

The 24-year-old Rodriguez, drafted out of Temple, played in 12 games for the Bears in 2012. He had four catches for 21 yards.
