Appalachian State crushes Chattanooga 86-60.

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Jay Canty scored 27 points and Nathan Healey had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead Appalachian State to an 86-60 blowout of Chattanooga in the regular-season finale for both on Saturday.

With the victory, Appalachian State clinched the No. 4 seed and first-round bye in next week’s Southern Conference tournament.

Jamaal Trice had 13 points and Mike Neal pulled down 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers (14-15, 8-10).

Casey Jones scored a season-high 16 points, Ronrico White had 10 and Z. Mason 10 rebounds with nine points for the Moccasins (13-18, 8-10).

The score was tied 5-all 2:51 into the game when the Mountaineers went on a 31-9 run to take a 36-14 lead with 8:16 left in the half. They led 55-30 at halftime.

In the first half, Appalachian State shot 56.3 percent both from the field (18 of 32) and beyond the arc (9 of 16).
