NEW YORK (AP) — Jamal Olasewere and C.J. Garner combined to score 63 points Saturday to help Long Island Brooklyn defeat Quinnipiac 96-90 and lock up at least one home game in the upcoming Northeast Conference tournament.

Olasewere tallied a career-high 33 points and 10 rebounds, while former high school teammate Garner added a personal-best 30 points.

Brandon Thompson, who had 11 points, capped a 13-2 run with a three-point play to help the Blackbirds (17-13, 12-6) turn a 43-34 halftime deficit into a 47-45 advantage.

From there, Quinnipiac (15-15, 11-7) twice cut the deficit to one, but each time Garner answered with a jumper to extend LIU Brooklyn’s lead.

LIU Brooklyn outshot Quinnipiac 55 percent (32 of 58) to 49 percent (33 of 67), including a sizzling 67 percent (19 of 28) in the second half.

Jason Brickman handed out 12 assists for the Blackbirds while Dave Johnson led Quinnipiac with 24 points.
