NEW YORK (AP) — Sunny Desert, the 2-5 favorite, rolled to a three-length victory Saturday in the $73,500 Broadway Stakes for New York bred fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
After settling near the back of the five-horse field, Sunny Desert stormed to the front with a four-wide sweep in the stretch to secure her seventh victory in 13 starts. Cornelio Velasquez rode for trainer John Parisella as the 4-year-old ran the six furlongs in 1:10.02.
Sunny Desert paid $2.90, $2.40 and $2.10. Clear Pasaj, who held the lead briefly in the lane, got second and returned $3.20 and $2.20. Here’s Zealicious paid $2.70 to show.
