A camper trailer was destroyed Tuesday evening in Ridgefield by fire that threatened a neighboring shop and another trailer.

Black smoke could be seen from miles away, said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy, spokesman for Clark County Fire & Rescue. CCF&R and Fire District 6 were dispatched to Northeast 199th Street and Northeast 10th Avenue at 6:40 p.m. Flames impinged on an adjacent shop, where the property owner apparently fixes cars, and on another camper trailer, Dawdy said.

The trailer was destroyed, while the adjacent shop and additional trailer were damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown and the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

While crews worked at the site of the fire, 10th Avenue was reduced to one lane. The address of the property was not available.
