MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Former Alabama receiver Danny Woodson is transferring to South Alabama.

Woodson, who grew up in Mobile, played in six games and had one catch as a redshirt freshman for the Crimson Tide in 2012.

He will have to sit out this coming season because of NCAA rules and will have two years of eligibility left.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Woodson was suspended for a violation of team rules at Alabama during the spring and did not participate in offseason workouts with the team.

Last season was South Alabama’s first as a member of FBS, competing in the Sun Belt Conference.
