ODOT: Highway 30 to remain closed through evening

Drivers should expect delays on I-5 north of downtown Portland

U.S. 30 between downtown Portland and the St. Johns Bridge will remain closed through the evening commute. Portland General Electric crews are replacing power poles and power lines brought down on both sides of the highway early this morning when trees fell. Oregon Department of Transportation is clearing the roadway and assessing the hillside where the trees fell.

The St. Johns Bridge remains open, accessible from Highway 30 on the north and west sides of the bridge, and from North Philadelphia Avenue on the east side of the bridge.

Motorists should plan ahead to use alternate routes, such as Cornelius Pass Road to and from U.S. Highway 26; I-5 to North Lombard Street to the St. Johns Bridge to continue northwest on Highway 30; or I-5 to Longview to cross the Lewis & Clark Bridge into Rainier, Ore., and Highway 30.

Travelers should expect more congestion along I-5 north of downtown Portland because of the closure on Highway 30.
