FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Northern Arizona sophomore guard DeWayne Russell has decided to leave the program.

The Lumberjacks’ leading returning scorer, Russell opted to transfer after talking it over with coach Jack Murphy.

The 5-foot-11 guard was NAU’s second-leading scorer last season with 14.4 points per game and led the team with 1.5 assists.

He was expected to be the focal point of the Lumberjacks’ offense in their second season under Murphy.

Northern Arizona opens its season at UTSA on Saturday.
