LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — Air Force was hot from the 3-point line and Army was not in the Falcons’ 79-68 season-opening victory on Friday in the All-Military Classic at VMI.

The Falcons hit 10 of 15 3-pointers for 66.7 percent. The Black Knights threw up a program-record 44 shots from beyond the arc but made only 12 for 27.3 percent.

Tre’ Coggins led four Falcons in double figures with 20 points. Kamryn Williams had 15 points and 10 rebounds, his third career double-double. Max Yon and Darrius Parker added 12 points each.

Army held Air Force without a field goal for the final 6:02 of the first half to take 30-28 lead. But Air Force caught the Black Knights after Yon scored nine straight points, including a 3-pointer with 10:29 left to tie it at 49. Williams’ layup, seconds later, gave the Falcons the lead for good.

Army freshman Tanner Omlid scored 18 points.
