NEW YORK (AP) — Cory Osetkowski recorded career-highs by scoring 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out five assists as Columbia ran away from Maryland-Eastern Shore 73-54 on Saturday night.
The 6-11 junior immediately made his presence felt, scoring seven points and pulling down four boards within the game’s first six minutes, helping the Lions jump out to a 9-2 lead.
KyRee Jones kept the Hawks in the game by scoring 15 of 17 points in the first half as Columbia took a 31-26 lead into the break.
The Lions pulled away early in the second half by going on a 29-6 run sparked by Osetkowski’s four assists. Columbia hit six straight 3-point shots and Grant Mullins scored 11 of his 13 points during that stretch.
Hakeem Baxter scored 17 points for the Hawks, who shot just 27.6 percent from the field in the second half.
