DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Chris Pelcher had 25 points and 17 rebounds on Saturday night to lead New Hampshire to its sixth consecutive season-opening win against Suffolk 94-70.
Pelcher went 9 of 12 from the field, Daniel Dion was 3 of 4 from 3-point distance and Patrick Konan had 19 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats. Dion finished with 14 points in his freshman debut. The Wildcats were 33 of 60 to finish the night 55.0 percent.
UNH led 25-15 with 8:35 left in the first half before Suffolk went on 11-0 run to go ahead briefly. Jaleen Smith hit a 3-pointer at the 6:15 mark to break the run and give the Wildcats the lead for good.
Matt Powers was 4 of 6 on 3-pointers to finish with 19 points for Suffolk. Sam Nwadike added 15 points and five assists for the Rams.
