LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Alcorn State used a big second half to run away from Mississippi College 87-61 on Tuesday night.
The Braves (2-1) led by just five, 32-27, at the half and the Division III Choctaws closed to within one on Willie Williams’ basket with 17:49 left. But a few minutes later the Braves went on a 20-2 run to go up 61-41 with 13:04 left. The Choctaws would only get within 19 points after that.
LeAntwan Luckett led the Braves with 20 points. Tyrel Hunt added 18 and Marquis Vance 16.
The Braves dominated the paint, outscoring the Choctaws 48-26 and also had a healthy advantage from the free-throw line, hitting 27 of 46 while the visitors made 10 of 19.
Mississippi College got 18 points from Williams, 13 from Emmanuel Ezejiofo and 11 from Jaron Edwards.
The game was an exhibition for the Choctaws.
